I posted about this briefly, with links to people who discuss the issue without being horrible, at http://susanreads.dreamwidth.org/6883.html, plus update in today's post. I've also seen some horrendous bigotry in comments; I'm following the thread at Liberal Conspiracy, but I don't recommend it.
